2026-06-06 Roosevelt

Jim Mudry, who had told us he was taking a day off today, called early to see where we were going to sail. The call was either Roosevelt or Arlington. The launch is easier at Roosevelt, so the decision was made. We were on the road shortly after 10:00, which is very early for our group!
We arrived just before noon. Jim M was just heading out on a 4.5 wing, but came in after a short time and re-rigged to a 3.5. Blaine and I went out on 4.5 wings. Blaine did well, getting on foil a lot of the time and staying on the "inside" out of the big waves.

Kent took out his 3.9m sail, and Ross was on his 4m Kite. They went down to the Arlington site to check out the big waves, but the wind was lighter there, so they came back and surfed the waves straight across from Roosevelt. They said that the waves at Roosevelt were just as good anyway - at least for today.

The wind was up and down, with periods of strong wind, and then stretches of light wind, sometimes to the point that everyone was slogging. Overall though, the wind was good!
I am starting to get more comfortable on the Swift board and was enjoying some wave rides. I still have trouble climbing up on the board and getting going in waves, but I guess that will come with time. I had fun chasing and sailing around Kent and Jim.

We all came in for lunch around 2:00. Blaine and I were pretty tired, so called it a day.
Ross ,Kent, Jim M went out for another session but re-rigged as the wind had come up. Ross changed to his 3m Kite, Kent to his 3.2m Sail and Jim M to his 3m Wing (his smallest).
Blaine and I left to get home in time for the hockey game, so had finished supper by the time the others arrived. Kent told us "it was the best sailing ever" - I guessed we missed it - or maybe not. We both figured we each had a pretty good day!
We had another very exciting hockey game, as you probably know, with Carolina coming from behind 0-4 to tie the game, losing only in the second OT. Blaine was very happy with the Vegas win!
Another great day!
