2026-06-07 Back to Moiser

Berry Bombs....  They drop on our gear and explode leaving purple stains on everything!

It took a while, but eventually everyone decided on Moiser.  Even then, Blaine drove to the Event Site first, but then joined everyone at Moiser.  I'm not sure how we will make decisions when we have double the number of people trying to come to a consensus.  We got arrived at Moiser around noon and were on the water by 1:00.  Blaine and I were on 4.5m Wings, Kent was on his 4.5m Sail and Ross was on his 4.  We all had a great session for about 2 hours.

I gave Blaine some tips on how to do the "Stink Bug", and easier way to climb onto his board and get to his knees.  He was foiling back and forth and doing some stand up jibes!  More progress every day.   Kent saw one reach where Blaine went at least half way across the river with no touch downs, until the jibe.

Kent and Ross enjoyed going way upwind and then racing back downwind. They flew past Blaine and I occasionally on their way up or down!

I am getting used to my new Swift board.  I played in the waves and practiced my jibes and foot switches.  The "Water Snakes" weren't as big an issue today as they were yesterday.  I could feel the stab starting to cavitate a few times, but was able to catch it.  I had some good wave rides, but the waves weren't setting up like they did the other day, and certainly nothing like in the Baja.

When I came in for lunch, the others were already off the water.  We sat on the grass in the parking area and enjoyed our lunch sitting in the sun.  When we walked back to the beach for a second session, the wind had dropped considerably and most people were back on the beach, although there were a few out, mostly on the far side.  Blaine and I decided to call it a day.  I had my best session of the trip, and I wasn't totally exhausted, so why risk a big swim.

Kent and Ross went out again.  Kent stayed on his 4.5 and took a while (half the river) to get going, but once he was up on foil, he was off!  Ross switched to his 5 and had no problem.  They had a lot of fun racing back and forth and around the Red Buoy down river by the island and playing in the waves.

I took a few photos.  Ross and Kent were way too far away, so I took some macro shots of the berries that keep dropping on our gear leaving purple stains.....  They look pretty on the trees, but.......

It was a pretty quiet night for everyone.  We all did our own thing for supper.  I watched the Blue Jay's beat the Orioles.  Another great day!

Blaine - de-rigging at the end of the day!

Kent - posing for the camera.....

More Berry Bombs!
