2026-06-17 Big day everywhere!

 

Al had a great day!

Blaine completed his final packing early, and then Kent, Blaine, Brad, Al and I went top Bett's for breakfast!  Lots of food, but a bit pricey.  It is tradition, so we had to do it at least once!  Blaine left from Bett's to go home and help Wynne with the grandkids.

Cynthia spent the morning driving Big Air Jim to the airport, while Cam had to attend a virtual meeting.

Big Jim, John, and Robert did the second shift at Bett's a bit later.

The forecast was for a very windy day, pretty well all day, and pretty well everywhere.

Al went to the Hatchery where he rigged his 3.8 (his smallest sail), while everyone around him was rigging 3.2.  He said he had a great session!  After lunch, he joined us at the Moiser.

John, and Big Jim went to the Event site.  They both got out, and all had a lot of fun in "challenging" conditions!

Kent, Cam, Ben, Cynthia, Ross, Robert and I went to Moiser.  It was windy.  We all got out for about an hour, overpowered on small gear!  I had fun in the waves, and chasing around Ben.  Ben continues to do really well, although in the strong wind, I noticed that he usually explodes in his jibes - but being young and indestructible, he just keeps trying it.  It won't be long before he will  have it nailed!

Suddenly, after about an hour, the wind died.  I noticed that the wind was dropping, but made the mistake of not immediately heading for the beach.  I paid for it with a 30 minute swim......  Of course, the wind started to come up again just as I was getting back to the beach and walking around the point to the launch site.  

I had lunch, and then took out my camera to take some photos of the second session.  Everyone was out again, except Robert, who decided to head back to the condo, to finish packing, and then start the drive North.  Al arrived, and rigged his 4.2.  He had a good session, but very over powered, so he came in and re-rigged to his 3.8 for a final session. 

Unfortunately most of our crew headed up wind and out of camera range, but I did get a few shots, and luckily, I finally got some shots of Al!  It is not very often that the planets line up to allow me to take photos of Al sailing.

I went back to the condo to pack, but the rest of the gang continued sailing until about 5:00.

We all went to the Mexican Restaurant for supper!  The food and company were all excellent.

What a trip!

Blaine, Big Air Jim, and Robert are already gone.  Cam, Cynthia, Ben,  Brad, Kent and I leave tomorrow, and Al, Big Jim, John leave on Friday, leaving only Ross.  John, The forecast isn't great for tomorrow, but there is a good chance of wind on Friday.  I hope they get some!

2026-06-12 The Gang's all Here!

  Jim, checking his life jacket! It was a bit of a slow morning.   The whole gang is now here.  Cam, Cynthia, Jim, and Jim's grandson Ben arrived last night.  Ben is a 21 year old competitive snow skier, among other things.  He even brought his skies with him in case there was a chance this trip to get up to Mount Hood! 2026-06-03 Three Times is the charm!

Winger Blaine! We should have read Temirra's forecast more closely .  We had a bit of a slow morning. I went to Sailworks to see Dale and Bruce, and to buy some foil covers for the foils I had bought last season. It was really good to see them and catch up. They were full of questions about the guy's when everyone was coming.  Blaine went to the Event site, and Jim Mudry met him there to haul his gear up to the Hook, so Blaine could foil back and forth and not worry about going upwind. Blaine got out, but just as he stood up, the wind totally died! Damn! Fortunately Jim hadn't gone far so came back and hauled Blaine and his gear back to the Event Site.  I headed to the Event Site around noon to catch up with Blaine, and then decide whether I would sail form there or Moiser, but Blaine was nowhere to be found. 2026-06-16 Wild Winds - Learning Day!

  Ben... showing how it's done! The forecast was for 30mph - on the verge of too much... The Event Site was the call with people starting to head there around 10:00.  When I arrived at 11:00 everyone was rigging.  It looked gusty with light wind in front of the Event Site and much more wind upwind! Al went to the Hatchery, which was probably a much better call.  He had three sessions on his 3.8 sail!  The middle session was the best, his last session was very gusty and shifty. I set up and took photos for the first couple of hours, although it was difficult because of the gusty conditions as people were generally staying on the far side.  I started at Luhr Jensen's, and then moved to the point at the Event Site.
